Contact East is an annual performing arts booking conference hosted by the Atlantic Presenters Association. The event brings performing arts presenters, managers, and agents together to see artist performances showcasing a diverse range of artistic genres, including but not limited to music, cabaret, dance, disability arts, circus arts, comedy, youth-oriented programming, and cultural performances.
This year, Contact East will take place in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island from Thursday, September 26 to Sunday, September 29 offering artist showcases and pitch sessions, professtional development sessions, and numerous opportunities for presenters, artists, agents and managers to network and discuss booking opportunities.

Conference Overview
The Atlantic Presenters Association is dedicated to providing space that is accessible, inclusive, and free from oppression, harassment, and discrimination. At our gatherings, we will treat each other with respect and dignity, regardless of age, race, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, levels of ability, religion and all our other diverse identities.
The Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) acknowledges that past selection processes were not fair or equitable to all and that this is the first step towards more equitable representation on our stages across Atlantic Canada. APA acknowledges the value that lived and community based experiences and practices have in creating fair artist selection processes. APA is committed to implementing and upholding equitable practices by choosing a selection committee that represents the wide diversity of artists that we are committed to bringing to Contact East. The artists chosen by the selection committee shall have equitable representation across communities - including Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, disability, and Mad arts communities.
Showcase Provisions
Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) will supply stage and production equipment, systems and support to showcasing artists and do our best to meet their additional technical requirements. APA will also provide dressing rooms and green room for showcasing artists.
Showcase Criteria

Artists should be prepared to present a performance, or excerpt of a full length piece of work, approximately 15 minutes in length. APA understands that some performances need more time to be fully experienced and will do their best to ensure that all work is properly represented.
Artists should be prepared to showcase the performance that was stated in the application. Any changes must be pre-approved as the selection committee selects final applications based on what was submitted.

Submission of this form constitutes acceptance and acknowledgement of the following terms and conditions of applying for and/or accepting a showcase or pitch at Contact East.
This application does not represent a commitment by Atlantic Presenters Association (APA) to provide a showcase at Contact East 2024.
If selected to showcase successful applicants must:

Participate in the scheduled sound check (approximately 30 minutes) and scheduled showcase slot (approximately 15 minutes). Please note that APA we will do our best to work with artists well in advance of the conference to work around their personal schedules. We do encourage participation in the full 4-day event if possible as this is a great opportunity to meet and network with presenters and other delegates.

Be available for one-to-one meetings, either in person or virtually, with other conference delegates. Registration will open at the end of June 2024 and full details released at that time.

Confirm within 7 days of offer to showcase or pitch
Furthermore:

Costs such as travel and accommodations related to showcasing are the responsibility of the artists, however, APA can advise on accessing grants to cover these costs

APA reserves the right to use showcasing artists submitted images and content for the promotion of Contact East

If a selected act is unable to appear, no substitutions will be permitted for the scheduled showcase performance. The selection committee will establish a list of alternates from the original applications based on the next highest score achieved. Cancellation by an agent or promoter does not guarantee that agent or promoter the opportunity to fill the vacant showcase
